Spring Car Maintenance Tips

Last week, we explored spring home maintenance tips to ensure your home is ready for the warmer months. As spring approaches, it is also important to examine your automobiles to ensure a safe spring and summer. Here are some tips for automobile owners— add these to your spring cleaning lists!

1 Change your oil and oil filter- Your vehicle’s manual will provide more specifics on how often your oil and filters should exactly be replaced. Neglecting to replace engine oil can result in poor engine performance, higher fuel consumption and even severe engine damage.

2 Check your fluids- When you change your oil and oil filter, you should also check your fluids. Check your power steering, brake, and transmission fluids; your windshield washer fluid; and your coolant. If they’re low, fill them up!

3 Replace your wiper blades- Torn or cracked wiper blades will not serve you well through spring showers.

4 Check your lighting. Check all exterior and interior lighting to identify any problems. When your vehicle’s lighting is not working, other drivers on the road may not be able to see you or understand where you’re turning. Proper lighting ensures safety for everyone on the road.

Happy almost-springtime!

Since the 1900's...

Born under the name George Hutcheson, Hutcheson, Reynolds & Caswell Ltd. began providing insurance policies in Muskoka since the early 1900s. Bernard Reynolds joined the firm in the 1940s and purchased the firm from George Hutcheson in 1967. Finally, in 1980, David Caswell joined the company's ranks to complete Hutcheson, Reynolds and Caswell. We have grown along with our name and provide the same dedication to superior customer service and top-notch insurance coverage that George Hutcheson was famous for over 100 years ago.
